What you’ll do as a General Foreperson at Lewis:
Lead the team, including Asst. General Forepersons and Forepersons, ensuring successful production results and creating and a positive team environment.
Work Oversight & Safety
Plan and manage production, bid new work, understanding revenue targets
Work together with utility foresters/inspectors to clarify work specifications, coordinate work audits/inspections and address customers issues
Visit work sites frequently. Review the Pre-Job Hazard Survey at each job site; inspect work in progress and ensure it conforms to standards; enforce on the job safety practices
Takes lead role in safety to ensure the well-being of employees, customers and the public.
Personnel Management
Ensures that employees receive training to prepare for job assignments
Appraises performance of employees to communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback as a means for improvement
Identify and develop high potential employees for leadership succession
Maintain records and documentation related to man-hours; equipment and tool use; material inventory and storage; accident/incident reports; property-related permission and permits; customer records; labor disputes; and other job-specific records
Collaborate with the Corporate office for time keeping, billing, employee relations, contract support and recruiting
What you’ll need:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Leadership experience in the utility line clearance industry at the Foreperson or Asst. General Foreperson position
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for the trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing, as applicable to working in close proximity to energized conductors.
Understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of lines, voltage, line equipment, etc.
Ability to perform physical labor such as lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Have a valid driver’s license, CDL and/or medical certificate required for the vehicle being operated.
Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR cards
Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests
