This opportunity resides with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Job Description

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is hiring a Manager, Software Test Engineering to support the development of the Minotaur software at our Hanover, MD location.

As a Manager, Software Test Engineering, you will lead a team of software test engineers to verify that the software design meets the requirements set forth by the functional specifications and software requirements of the product. This is a people management position and you will be expected to collaborate closely with the software development team, product and project management, and quality assurance teams during all lifecycles of software development. This role will be responsible for team specific strategy, priorities, capabilities, and direction.

This position is a first line manager with primary responsibility for providing guidance, such as delegating work assignments and overseeing the priorities and direction of the team. The job requires professional knowledge gain through substantial applicable work experience, to supplement formal knowledge, in order to apply principles and concepts of own discipline in resolving issues as they arrive. You will be responsible for providing training for members of the team, monitoring the quantity and quality of the work in progress, coaching employees on performance and providing mentorship as needed.

Minotaur ingests data from various sensors on manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft to enhance an operator’s ability to identify tracks from various on-board sensors, from both sea and land, that is utilized in all branches of the military. Essential Job Responsibilities

Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains standards for software systems quality operating methods, processes, and procedures. Conducts evaluation of software systems activities including requirements, design, development, documentation, integration, test, verification and validation. Defines appropriate measures to ensure product quality. Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives. Ensures that projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contracts. Reviews software systems design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements. Reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies. Provides or directs verification and validation of software system requirements, traceability, and testability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience.

  • 2 - 4 years experience software testing/development in a Linux command line environment

  • 1 - 2 years experience leading a software development engineer test team

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a close team environment

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US level Secret clearance

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Software, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • 2 - 4 years experience in:

  • leading test and test automation teams

  • network communication protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, etc.)

  • scripting in Python, Bash, CSH, etc.

  • Agile software development methodology

  • Active US level Secret clearance

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully apply educational background to real-world engineering problems

Physical Requirements

May be required to visit job site in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
