Aerotek Garnishment Specialist in Hanover, Maryland
Overview:
Actalent Corporate has an immediate opening for a Garnishment Specialist at our Global Headquarters in Hanover, MD.
Hours: Full Time | Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Compensation: $24. 04 per hour + $1000 Quarterly Bonus Potential
Role Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Payroll Manager the Garnishment Specialist will be responsible for interpreting and entering data for wage garnishments for tax levies, student loans, child support orders and writs. This position must be able to utilize resources and learn rules and regulations for federal and state compliance purposes. In addition, this position will work and communicate with the Payroll Department, State Agencies, and employees. Career development opportunities are available for the right candidate.
Essential Functions
Research questions and return calls from multiple sources: employees, garnishment/child support agencies
Process and maintain new and existing child support orders, tax levies, and various wage liens
Reconcile weekly file to Accounts Payable
Process garnishment interrogatories and verifications of employment
Process garnishment answers per pay period for those states that require
Process termination letters and subpoenas
Provide copies of child support order, garnishment and wage liens to all "active" employees
Research and resolve child support and/or garnishment discrepancies
Monitor federal and state laws for up-to-date information and participate in webinars
Perform special projects or other tasks as requested
Open mail weekly
Qualifications | Skills | Abilities
2 to 3 years processing garnishments preferred
Attention to details and accuracy
Ability to multi-task
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to get results in a fast-paced environment
Customer service oriented, strong communication skills
General computer literacy and proficiency with Word, Excel and PeopleSoft experience a plus
Compensation
Per Pay Transparency Acts: The range for this position is $50,000 - $66,000 + bonus potential of up to $4,000 per year
