Independent preparation of criteria, computation/analyses, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports for Process Systems and Facility HVAC/Plumbing system designs. Selects and applies engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity. Projects are multi-discipline.
Responsibilities: Oversight of the activities of designers and drafters engaged in the design of facility mechanical systems, to ensure the designs conform to recognized codes and standards and with customer requirements for a variety of government and industrial facility types.
Provide technical quality reviews and ensure adherence to Quality Control processes, Codes and Standards, ultimately resulting in the Highest Quality deliverables to NASA Langley.
Providing integrity and teambuilding which will encourage employee engagement and maintain a high morale. Direct design experience must include – Process Systems and Facility HVAC/Plumbing design for commercial, healthcare, institutional, or Federal facilities - Fire Suppression System design is preferred
Here’s What You’ll Need:
U.S. Citizenship required. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering school and three (3) to five (5) years related engineering experience, or MS degree from an accredited engineering school and two (2) to three (3) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school.
Demonstrate proficiency in Process Systems and Facility HVAC/Plumbing design with one (1) to five (5) years of experience.
Professional Engineer license is preferred.
Candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player and communicate effectively both orally and written. Is pro-active, has a problem-solving attitude and effective team management skills.
Office environment. (85%) Test/Industrial Environment – May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities. Travel between various facilities/test operations is required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation.
Ability to enter confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants, and the like. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.

Other Essential Functions: U.S. Citizenship required. Valid Drivers License is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
