Langley Research Center Electronics Technician in Hampton, Virginia

Summary The Electronic Systems Branch (ESB) at Langley Research Center is seeking to hire an Electronic Technician responsible for contributing significantly to the development of advanced electronic equipment which uniquely meets the demanding performance requirements for NASA's Aeronautics, Exploration and Science technology flight demonstration and flight projects' needs. Responsibilities Support electronic printed circuit board and electronic system design and development, assembly, integration and test for aerospace flight and research projects. Work with electronic engineers and help develop and implement test plans for the verification and validation, including calibration and characterization of electronic systems. Assist with the deployment of electronic equipment into the field and deployment for ground- based or aircraft missions, as well as deployment to spaceflight platforms. Support metrology management for measuring equipment performance through laboratory, environmental, and aerospace flight testing. Obtain and maintain required certifications, including certifications of soldering (IPC J-STD-001 and Space addendum), cable crimp and harnessing per NASA-STD 8739.4, and polymerics per NASA-STD 8739.1. Mentor junior electronic technicians including Engineering Technician Pathways students and LaRC Technician Apprentices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service: Supporting the assembly, integration, or testing of electronics systems, such as power systems, sensors, instruments, data acquisition systems, or aeroshells; Supporting the development of electronic systems for aerospace flight projects; Performing soldering, cable assembly and polymerics.
