Unitil Associate to Regulatory Financial Analyst in Hampton, New Hampshire

Position Purpose

Assist with financial and operational research and analysis for regulatory projects or ratemaking issues. This position will play a role in the preparation and implementation of required state and federal rate filings and various other regulatory filings. Individual will have responsibility for specific calculations, reports, and analysis. This role will provide technical regulatory support to stakeholders as well as communicate with both internal and external parties regarding regulatory proceedings.

Rate Case Regulation: Review and utilize the accounting records, operational data and financial records of the utility to prepare various regulatory filings. Work collaboratively to align and integrate the financial impact of various department proposals into the cost of service calculation.

Develops analyses that will support filings in a transparent and ethical manner. Analyses will include accounting practices and financial principles used in general industry, as well as those unique to utilities. Work products must be able to withstand challenges from opposing parties.

Interim Rate Adjustment Regulation: Independantly manage the regulatory process of trackers and other regulatory financial filings to obtain rate changes and revenues for the Company in between rate cases.

Regulation Research: Maintains knowledge of industry trends and industry-related legislation and regulation. Review final commission decisions to identify new and ongoing compliance requirements which are being imposed on the regulated entity.

Financial Compliance Filings: Prepare the filing of periodic financial regulatory compliance materials. Monitor internal quarterly reporting and calculation of revenue deficiency trends of the regulated utility subsidiaries in each state.

Discovery Management: Responsible for response preparation for discovery from regulatory agencies and interveners in support of the regulatory filings, and other witnesses as necessary.

Other: Miscellaneous ad hoc analysis as necessary.

Storm Assignment: Support operations during storm restoration efforts and other system emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics or equivalent preferred.

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience in regulatory, corporate finance or accounting with utility or regulatory experience preferred.

  • Strong analytical and organization skills.

  • Highly organized, flexible and able to utilize time efficiently.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must possess a high degree of judgement, efficiency, organizational and PC skills.

  • Some travel may be required.
