Janicki Industries Inc. NDI Trainee (Weekend Shift) in Hamilton, Washington

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a NDI Technician Trainee to join our growing team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State.

There is a $2 shift differential for all hours worked on the weekend shift.

The NDI Technician Trainee will be working under the guidance of Janicki Industries certified level II or III technicians. NDI Technician Trainees will learn to set up, calibrate and use NDI equipment as part of their on-the-job training. The NDI Technician Trainee will accrue hours and receive classroom training as part of their development towards becoming a Janicki Industries Certified Level I technician under direct supervision of a certified level II or level III. NDI Technician Trainees do not independently conduct tests, make accept or reject decisions.This role is entry level and wages are commiserate.  There are two openings for this role, one on swing shift and one on day shift. 

The following essential job functions are performed as a NDI Technician Trainee:

  • Under Supervision from a Level II set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
  • Under the guidance of a level II, conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection using A-scan and C-scan Methods.
  • Under the supervision of a Janicki Industries certified level II, organize and report test results.
  • Log hours and receive approval by a Janicki Industries certified level II
  • Perform specialized inspections
  • Interface daily with management about work priorities, progress of projects, and removal of obstacles.
  • Actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
  • Understands the application of the ultrasonic tools at hand to maximize the efficiency and quality of inspections. Seeks new technology and opportunities for applications.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; able to approach/evaluate a problem from many angles.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events; able to absorb and process information quickly.
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines.
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
  • 1+ years' experience in aerospace, manufacturing and quality preferred.
  • Familiar with Windows operating systems (i.e. word, excel, power point) and network systems
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a government issued security clearance.
