Michael Baker International Construction Manager/Office Engineer in Hamilton, New Jersey

CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PRACTICE

Michael Baker International's Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.

DESCRIPTION

As a Construction Manager/Office Engineer, you will work on a wide variety of infrastructure projects that include transportation, facility, and resilient-oriented construction projects. It is preferable the applicant live in the vicinity of Central Jersey as this position will require a time share at our main office in Hamilton, NJ and routine site visits to multiple project locations throughout New Jersey. We are currently pursuing multiple exciting new programs via the NJ DPMC that will require providing oversight for multiple projects as part of these programs from the design phase through construction for the client. Typical duties for the applicant will include attendance of multiple bi-weekly progress meetings (typically via Teams Calls) for each project, bi-weekly site visits to these projects, master program schedule tracking, contractor pay application reviews, and overall document control. The ability to multi-task is critical as there will be multiple projects within each program. Most importantly, the ability to communicate and interact with multiple stakeholders will be required. Responsibilities include:
Primary responsibility will be to assist the Sr. Project Manager with the day-to-day activities of the programs and projects. This will require some knowledge of construction practices, familiarity with the project plans and the ability to photo log and prepare site visit reports in a timely fashion.
Attend and prepare meeting minutes for multiple bi-weekly meetings.
Record relevant project documents such as RFI's , submittals, pay applications and change orders.
Assist with the preparation of Independent Cost Estimates for change orders.
Review contractor pay applications.
Maintain multiple tracking tools (i.e. spreadsheets) for each program.
Communicate with multiple stakeholders (i.e. consultants, municipalities, contractors) in this oversight role to obtain information as needed.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in construction management or civil engineering required.
10 years of related construction and/or design experience is preferred.
PE, EIT, and/or NICET certification is required or ability to obtain
Experience with NJDPMC, NJDCA, SJTA, NJDOT, NJTA, County and/or municipal projects performing inspection of highway construction and/or structural components (bridges, retaining walls, sign/light structures), including earthwork, concrete and/or asphalt paving construction, drainage, water quality basins and utility construction. General building/vertical construction/design is a plus.
Valid driver's license.
OSHA 10 hr certification or ability to obtain.
Excellent English language skills, written and verbal.
Very Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel) etc.
Ability to multi-task as you will be working on multiple projects at any one time.

PREFERENCES
HUD CDBG-DR grant management experience is a plus.
Valid certifications in ACI Field Concrete Testing, NJ Society of Asphalt Technician certification (NJSAT) or (NECEPT), Rutgers TCP is desirable.
Applicant be centrally located as the projects can be located throughout the State of New Jersey. The position will require home office attendance and regular site inspections at multiple locations.

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is$94,675 to $139,825. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
