Communications Specialist - Hamilton, NJ Req #: 0000113681 Category: Professional / Management Status: Full-Time Shift: Day Facility: RWJBarnabas Health Corporate Services Department: Affiliate Marketing & Comm Location:RWJ - Hamilton, Hamilton, NJ, Hamilton, NJ 08690 Job Summary:Reporting to the Director, Public Relations & Marketing, the Communications Specialist is a strong writer and creator of content who advances the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton and RWJBarnabas Health brands by developing and implementing communication strategies that engage and inform the service area community. They are responsible for developing and executing online and social media content and assisting with all other department communications that support the Public Relations & Marketing Department s objectives and priorities. This role is based on-site only.The Communications Specialist has a solid command of marketing, promotion and outreach strategies and channels, internal and external customer communications, and brand management.Digital CommunicationsThe successful candidate will develop a deep knowledge of the hospitals services, and programs, develop digital content and manage communication channels to create awareness and engagement. They will identify and utilize a variety of ways to engage consumers; measure and increase outreach effectiveness; manage projects; and respond to online inquiries via website and social media platforms.Branding, Media and Customer CommunicationsThe successful candidate will assist with - and sometimes lead - branding and hospital communications, including presentations, online content, and publications, events, and media relations efforts.Marketing Campaigns and CollateralThe Communications Specialist will oversee the execution of deliverables, including brochures, banners, posters, and other marketing collateral.Essential Functions:- Consult with internal and external customers to understand the need and purpose of a project.- Manage production of publications/communications and adhere to deadlines.- Compose written material for diverse audiences, across a variety of channels.- Oversee use of and post to the hospital s social media platforms.- Develop, compile and edit materials that support written communication (online content, publications, presentations, talking points, and other related materials).- Establish and maintain extensive contacts with key sources (media, news services, community organizations and other targeted audiences) to identify story themes and newsworthy events to promote and disseminate information.- Ensure hospital signage/posters/bulletin boards are brand consistent and updated as necessary.- Maintain RWJBarnabas Health style standards.- Other duties as assignedJob Requirements:- BS or BA in communications, marketing or related field- 5 years of marketing experience; healthcare and/or marketing/communications agency experience preferred.- Understanding of integrated strategic communications in a matrix environment- Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, are required.- Expertise in marketing planning, marketing strategies and techniques and writing for internal and external audiences are required.- Experience in public relations, health communications, social media marketing, advertising, direct outreach/promotion and other strategic communications methods.- Experience in the development and delivery of print materials including brochures, newsletters and other materials.- Fluent in Canva and Hootsuite a plus. Other graphic design and workflow software knowledge a plus.- Photography skills are important; videography skills a plus.- Capable of handling complex situations in a changing environment; able to think critically and make decisions in a timely manner.- Ability to take initiative, work independently and prioritize tasks; strong time-management, organizational and problem-solving skills.- Work cooperatively and communicate openly with internal resources, clients and contracted vendors to ensure understanding of project needs, requirements, deadlines and budget.- Well-organized and detail-oriented.- Occasional weekends and evenings may be required for special events and/or urgent communication issues.- Other duties as needed.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
