The Data Governance team is instrumental in building the core foundations that will revolutionise the way that data is thought about and used at AXIS. The team works in amongst the business, understanding the roles and interactions the AXIS community have with data. They will:
Use the knowledge gained from this to build out policies and frameworks to ensure that data is treated and interpreted consistently across the business, ultimately enablingus to maximise the value of our data.
Leverage the relationships built with the business to educate and train the AXIS citizens to effectively manage data throughout their day to day working lives.
What will you do in this role?
Supporting the Head of Data Governance to proactively design the Axis policies, frameworks and standards that will enable work to be approached in a consistent way, resulting in scalable solutions
Supporting thepractical implementation of the data domains across Axis, working closely with data owners and data stewards to ensure data ownerships and responsibilities are clearly defined, and data definitions are agreed
Working closely with Data Architecture team to ensure our future data governance processes and procedures are in line with the strategic architecture
Working closely with Data Quality team on the design of the controls across the underwriting data lifecycle and support in the implementation of these
Working with BTS to support the evaluation of the data governance tooling as well as support the roll out the POC for data governance tooling across Axis Capital
Support Head of Data Governance in building and maintenance of a central data catalogue, support in building out a practice for developing data definitions and make these accessible and useful for the organization, bringing clarity to where to access data, and how to use and interpret it
Support with master data management and reference data management strategies
Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to elaborate on theoretical data concepts into actionable outcomes
Act as a subject matter expert on data governance topics, sharing guidance and support with data owners and data stewards across AXIS Capital
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
About You:

What you need to have:
3-6years experience in data governance field, preferably in (Re)Insurance
Working knowledge of insurance industry data and information needs of the underwriting function within (Re)Insurance.
Solid understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks and how to support its practical implementation
Familiarity with data quality tools (Precisely, DQlabs, Soda) and data governance tools (Precisely, Alation, Atlan, Data.World)
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, ability to win confidence of business stakeholders across Axis Capital. Being able to communicate clearly to a variety of stakeholders and work collaboratively within D&A and across Axis will be key to the success in the role
Excellent problem-solving skills, methodological approach to analyse data and information and propose solutions
Excellent attention to the detail demonstrated through a real work examples, such as time management and adherence to the deadlines
Ability to multitask and prioritise multiple activities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
What we prefer you to have:
Experience with a practical implementation of data domains and data product approach with a sound understanding of the challenges it faces and how to overcome them is a plus
Technical / implementation knowledge around technology and tools used in support of governance preferred
Understanding of data modelling is a plus as the role would require working with architecture team
