This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, or Juneau.* Pay will be determined based onlocation*of selected individual.

Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla biweekly salary: $3,221.25 Fairbanks biweekly salary: $3,318.00 Juneau biweekly salary: $3,382.50

What you will be doing: The Special Assistant to the Commissioner 1 acts as the Department`s Public Information Officer (PIO, Communications Director), providing professional-level support to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner. The incumbent will perform substantial research and information gathering to support executive-level decision-making and management processes specific to engagement with the media and other public-facing outreach. As Communications Director, the incumbent will oversee the look and feel of the website, social media, media relations, press releases, and outreach materials.**

Exceptional critical thinking skills, the ability to independently solve problems, apply policy considerations to decision making tasks, and excellent time management skills are a must.Tasks will range widely but all willrequire the ability to be a strong writer and clear communicator.**

This position may be stationed in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Soldotna, or Wasilla offices depending on the location of the successful applicant. This position does have an opportunity for a partial telework schedule (based on SOA and Department Telework Policies).

Minimum Qualifications

Positions in this job class are in the partially exempt service in accordance with AS 39.25.120(c)(6).
