Amazon System Integration Engineer in Haifa, Israel

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

We are looking for an experienced system integration engineer for the Annapurna product system team. Our products include the most advanced interfaces and technologies and widely used across AWS data centers as backbone for Nitro (https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/nitro/), Graviton (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDKwwFQKfSI) and other services. The candidate will own E2E (End-to-end) subset of system interfaces (such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDR etc.) across range of products from initial concept phase till post deployment debugs in the data center.

Key job responsibilities

As a member of a SPIV team you will own End-to-end subset of system interfaces (such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDR etc.) across range of products through product live cycle:

  1. Architectural concept and design

  2. Validation

  3. Integration

  4. Deployment and post-deployment support

As owner you will set the strategy for the interfaces you own, ensure the design worked well and drive complex system debugs involving HW, FW and SW components. You will work in amazingly wide scale and will also provide leadership by driving the teams around you to raise the bar and deliver higher quality product on behalf of Amazon customers. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you will work with thought leaders in multiple areas of technology. You will set high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and will be constantly looking for ways to improve the performance, quality, cost and reliability of AWS products and services We are changing an industry, and we want individuals who are ready for this challenge and want to reach beyond what is possible today.

You duties will include:

  • Approve future products micro-architecture related to the interface you own

  • Define new products Validation strategy and lead the execution

  • Support ongoing integrations of new products

  • Monitor and raise the operational excellence related to the interface you own.

  • Lead triage, debug and root cause analysis of systems in AWS data centers

  • Enhancing the ability to troubleshoot issues and driving for closure of in-fleet problems

  • Analyze customers` mode of work / requirements and provide resolutions accordingly

  • Co-work with Annapurna Labs monitoring team and other root cause teams to improve quality and reliability of products operation in the fleet

  • Provide Annapurna Labs’ ASIC design, SW development, QA and architecture teams information and requirements from customers’ fleet operation perspectives and represent the customer voice

  • Drive and maintain trainings, quality documentation and collateral in order to improve in-fleet operation

  • Design and define various tools and scripts to provide support to projects and customize it as per requirement.

  • Willing to travel per need few times a year

Basic Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Electrical / Computer Engineering

  • 8+ years of HW Design Experience or in Functional or Electrical Integration/Validation/Debug

  • 5+ years’ experience working with systems and experience with their SW, FW and HW components

  • High communication skills

  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills

  • 3+ years of Technical Leadership experience

  • Good familiarity with DDR interface (DDR4/DDR5)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer architecture knowledge

    • Basic skills in scripting: Python / Bash etc.
  • High-speed interfaces knowledge and debug capabilities.

  • Experience with server (x86 / ARM) design or architecture

  • Experience with operating systems, boot loaders, networking, and remote debugging

  • Ability to drive cross team and cross disciplinary activities
