Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), a division of Volvo Group North America, provides state-of-the-art research, engineering, product planning and project execution to final delivery of complete products also supporting products in the aftermarket.

Volvo North America, Vehicle Propulsion Laboratory is looking to hire skilled individuals wanting a career working on exciting new technologies for the future and the maintenance of our current products.

The Hagerstown workshop utilizes a variety of mechanical skills in the assembly, disassembly, overhaul, installation, and teardown of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical prototype or production components required for testing. This includes engines, transmissions, axles, aftertreatments, complete vehicles and all related components. This is a job within the union and it will require working 1st or 2nd shift.

Position Responsibilities

  • Adaptability, Collaboration, Open Minded and Team Focused

  • Responsible for measurement quality of the vehicle, test equipment and results

  • Perform calibration and troubleshooting on the vehicle and test equipment

  • Report faults on test vehicles and measurement equipment according to established procedures

  • Finalize the installation/connection of the test vehicle in the cell, and the measurement devices

  • Validation and analysis of the test results and cycles, with coherence to the reference points, and detection of problems

  • Diagnostic on the test objects and the cell in case of difficulty

  • Contribute to test cell improvements, test codes and test procedures

  • Reading of the test request, optimization and realization of the tests, with responsibility for productivity, Quality and safety rules

  • Daily follow-up of the cell diary, including data to establish KPI

  • Adjustment of data in ECU with engineering agreement, if necessary

  • Daily cooperation with Coordinator, Manager, Engineering and Lab partners

  • Ensure that all tests are carried out in an efficient manner and validate the tests

  • Occasional travel may be necessary

Qualifications

  • Basic Computer Skills in Excel, Outlook and Word

  • 2 Year Associates in Engineering with 2 years relevant experience or Military Equivalent with 4 years relevant experience or 5 years relevant experience

  • CDL preferred

  • Strong communication skills

  • Action oriented with ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Motivated to solve problems and develop quality solutions in a timely manner

  • Ability to successfully collaborate with global and cross-functional colleagues

  • Innovative mindset with customer focus

  • Authorized to work in the United States required

  • Must demonstrate basic skills proficiency

  • Relevant computer skills

For this position, the hourly rate is set at $18.84 - $23.27, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
