Western Colorado University Information Technology Technician in Gunnison, Colorado
Position:
Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time administrative position of IT Support Technician. The position reports to the IT Services Manager. This is an on-campus, in person position at the Western Colorado University campus in Gunnison, Colorado.
Responsibilities:
Broadly, this position provides front-line technical support and user assistance for many of the systems for which IT Services is responsible. This support includes installation and/or configuration of computing hardware (computers, network switches, printers, etc.), software, A/V devices, network cabling, diagnostics, troubleshooting and end-user assistance. Also assists students with personal devices and accessing the various IT systems. In addition to standard support duties, opportunities are available to be responsible for one or more specialty areas.

Ability to work effectively with customers with a wide range of technical aptitude
Effective communication skills, technical and non-technical
Strong technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Willing and able to continuously upgrade skills, abilities and knowledge
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree, any.
One year of general IT experience.
DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Experience working in a higher education environment.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT:
Full-time administrative appointment.
COMPENSATION:
$21.63 to $24.03 per hour (the equivalent of $45,000 to $50,000 annually). The position is FLSA non-exempt and eligible for overtime. Full benefits package. After one year of employment, self and dependents qualify for tuition waivers to attend Western. Relocation and housing assistance may be available.
