Mississippi Employer Lab Testing Technician in Gulfport, Mississippi

Seemann Composites has an opening for a Lab Testing Technician at our facility in Gulfport, MS. The work will include interfacing with engineering and IPT team members.

Typical duties for Lab Technician would include but not be limited to:

  • Perform mechanical test on polymer and composites using Instron test machine while following or developing test procedures with limited supervision
  • Collecting, managing, organizing, and storing all test specimens
  • Ability to decipher and analyze test results within project guidelines and specs
  • Formulate white papers or presentations to present results to engineering and management
  • Maintain lab safety and cleanliness
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment
  • Perform Titration test of chemicals using auto and manual titration processes
  • Maintain calibration log of all lab equipment

Job Requirements:

  • Two-year technical degree + experience or 2 or more years of mechanical lab experience.
  • Experience with composite and polymer materials preferred, but not necessary.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Familiar and able to read engineering drawings & specifications
  • Due to the nature of our work, United States Citizenship, is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold DOD security clearance.
  • Capable to set up and maintain Instron test machine and fixtures

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in the field of composites testing and/or inspection preferred.
  • Being able to conduct or interact in meetings to relay test results to internal staff or customer
  • Critical thinker & decision maker
  • Experience operating in an ISO 9001 or AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Experience in working with vendors and suppliers
  • Hands-on composite fabrication experience, or composite fabrication support
  • Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings with GD&T, technical requirements and specifications and material requirements

Essential Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to bend, stoop or climb as necessary to perform required inspections.
  • Ability to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces and lift loads of approximately 50 pounds
  • Stand; bend, kneel, walk, stoop, crouch, and sit.
  • Use hands and finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Repeat the same movements.
  • Bend and twist their body.
  • Climb stairs/ladders.
  • Be able to lift, push, pull, or occasionally carry heavy objects.
  • Vision abilities required are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception ability to adjust focus.
