Farm Assurance Incharge

Summary

Farm Assurance Incharge is responsible for ensuring food and farm safety systems are in place and functional to assist the safe and effective production of raw materials. Specifically, the Farm Assurance Incharge will manage, develop, implement, and review the farm and food safety policies and procedures including audit and compliance requirements in line with the organisation’s goals and business plans and all customer’s quality regulations. Ability & desire to work with growers on their farms, auditing farms and extension as well as communicating with the growers, regional agriculture community, the industry, and internally. To provide support and guidance to field teams to develop technical information for farm and food safety program and implement Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

Key Responsibilities

FOOD AND FARM SAFETY & COMPLIANCES:

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

OPERATIONAL AND STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Plan, prepare and conduct on-site and remote inspections and audit of grower farms and third-party storages and whole supply chain of raw material.

  2. Assess farm and food safety compliance of operations with company’s standards and write reports to communicate inspection and audit results within established timelines.

  3. Design and implement Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and sustainability development programs to improve quality and efficiency by applying agricultural knowledge and industry’s best practices.

  4. Developing and managing farm and food safety policies, procedures, SOP’s, work instructions, global GAP practices and its requirements and more;

  5. Compile and organize records, documenting, audits, findings, corrective actions, projects, and programs for each farm.

  6. Monitor best practices and changes in procedures to update product standards and SOP and cascade its value to stakeholders by designing and conducting training programs.

  7. Manage sustainability surveys, audits and promote specific practices to make sustainability gains, such as IPM, ICM and GAP adoption.

  8. Support grower compliance with sustainability reporting through including pesticide records, fertilization records and water use.

  9. Verify clean food integrity of products through the means of collecting farm samples for testing by our in-house food laboratory or third-party laboratory. This includes reviewing and interpretation of test reports.

  10. Facilitates audits and visits by government authorities, certifying bodies and customer product technologists in an efficient and effective manner.

  11. Promptly and efficiently responds to requests for information from government authorities, auditing bodies and customer product technologies.

  12. Maintain a robust Company document control system. Ensure compliance with legislation requirements.

  13. Ensure all works/operations fulfil the compliance of health and safety legislation.

  14. Use all means of general extension communication and demonstration to advise and train growers as well as third party contractor as and when require.

  15. Support/promote company’s Farm and food safety program.

  16. Attend and participate on local and national food and farm safety education meetings to gain knowledge of current agricultural practices.

  17. To perform any other duties that may be assigned.

  18. Compile various reports and submit it to the Leadership team/reporting manager as per SOP.

  19. Responsible for record keeping of farm and food safety related functions.

  20. Responsible for active participation in different programs, trainings & initiatives taken by company from time to time.

  21. Maintain a relationship with the factory production, quality team by active participation in food safety audit.

Typical Education

Minimum M.Sc. (Agriculture) in Plant Breeding/Agronomy/Soil Science/Entomology/Plant Pathology from Regular UGC / AICT approved academic institute.

Preferred to have Ph.d in agriculture with relevant experience.

Relevant Experience

Minimum 5 – 10 years of relevant experience.

Other Information

Preferred experience includes working with/in raw procurement and/or manufacturing operations ideally with supervisory experience. Must demonstrate ability to set and attain goals and to be self-managed/self-directed. Requires strong organizational and analytical abilities with excellent communication, organizational and team skills. Person must have strong background in agriculture and manufacturing and knowledge of all business support groups to manage the diverse range of agriculture sustainability. Must have the willingness and availability to travel as necessary
