Position: Director, Pick Up & Delivery Operations
Job Description:
Forward Air is seeking a highly capable and dedicated individual to assume the role of Director, Pick Up & Delivery Operations. This position requires a seasoned professional who can oversee and enhance local Pick Up & Delivery (PUD) operations across multiple markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving safety, service excellence, and financial performance within our complete product offering for all assigned PUD locations. Additionally, they will play a pivotal role in training, developing, and standardizing processes while fostering strong relationships throughout the organization.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Lead the safety, service, and financial management of PUD operations across assigned regions
Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives for multiple locations
Cultivate relationships with stakeholders at all levels, from drivers to dispatchers to Regional Vice Presidents
Drive process standardization and efficiency enhancements across non-direct report teams
Strategically align market-specific recommendations with the company's goal of delivering high-value, time-definite solutions
Possess a willingness to travel as needed (approximately 25% or less)

Qualifications:
A proactive problem-solver with a strong customer focus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to a long-term career with a leading industry player
Ability to maintain a positive corporate image in a dynamic environment
Proven capability in establishing and maintaining effective cross-functional relationships
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Flexibility in working hours and schedule
Skills:
Demonstrates a proactive "can-do" attitude coupled with a strong work ethic
Expertise in dispatch operations and logistics management
Advanced computer literacy for generating insightful reports
Experience with AS400 operating systems is advantageous
Knowledge of the transportation industry and related operations
Previous experience in dispatching and load planning is a plus
