Cummins Inc. Power Gen Commissioning Engineer (m/f/d) in Gross-Gerau, Germany

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Power Gen Commissioning Engineer to join our team specializing in Service for Cummins in Gross-Gerau, Frankfurt .

The role reports to the Project Manager.

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will diagnose and perform complex repairs on generators at customer sites, establishing strong customer relationships. You will use specialized tools and follow procedures to complete repairs and preventative maintenance. Additionally, you will coach technicians, maintain service vehicles and tools, ensure compliance with Health Safety & Environmental policies, and complete required documentation and training.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Plan, execute, and supervise the commissioning process, ensuring successful final handover and acceptance of equipment.

  • Prepare, plan, coordinate, perform, and report on commissioning activities and tests at supplier or customer sites for Power Generation equipment in the low and medium voltage range.

  • Apply comprehensive knowledge to perform skilled activities that support Distribution/PowerGen Projects business needs.

  • Collaborate with relevant functions to select and utilize appropriate resources, tools, and specialty equipment.

  • Adhere to safety protocols when working with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment.

  • Lead and coordinate subcontracted commissioning activities on Cummins scope of supply, and supervise equipment manufacturing and installation activities.

  • Conduct minor mechanical and electrical maintenance on equipment during the installation and commissioning phase.

  • Develop and support commissioning scripts and quality controls, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in the manufacturing environment, and willingness to travel nationally and internationally across Europe, with travel occupying nearly 100% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.

  • Apprentice Certified Power Generation/Electrical Technician (preferred) with current relevant electrical certification, especially in High Voltage/Low Voltage.

  • Expert-level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products.

  • Hands-on, practical engineering experience, including the ability to interpret schematic diagrams and technical specification documents.

  • Significant field service work experience.

  • Proven customer service experience with excellent communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.

  • Locally valid driving permit, with a "company car as a tool" benefit for the role.

  • Fluent in English and German.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Significant level of workshop related experience required.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products
