The main purpose and function of the Quality Control Technician is to provide support services for quality assurance and assist with QMS compliance.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Sample and test raw, processed, and finished materials.

  • Perform lab analysis pursuant to company standards and test procedures.

  • Ensure that product shipped from plant conforms to product specifications.

  • Ensure appropriate consideration is given to safety and environmental concerns.

  • Read and understand company policy and API/ISO/ASTM procedure.

  • Review NSF, API, and internal audit requirements for compliance; maintain records.

  • Demonstrate skills needed for batch mixing of specialty products.

  • Authority to initiate a stop to production based on product nonconformance's.

  • Work under general supervision and have some responsibility for independent decision making.

  • Exhibit appropriate care for equipment and supplies necessary to perform the job.

  • Assist in special testing for product development as needed.

  • Provide Certificates of Analyses (COA) and other customer reporting as needed.

  • Assist in completion of Sample Requests.

  • Participate in the Quality Management System by complying with the Quality Policy, Procedures, and Continual Improvement Process to reach the organization’s Quality goals and objectives.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and training:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Will train on-site

  • Experience with Bentonite Rheology and laboratory testing methods and equipment a plus

  • Experience working in an API or ISO, environment a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Organization.

  • Communication (written and verbal).

  • Basic computer skills in Access, Excel, and MS Word.

  • Data entry

  • Record keeping.

  • Mathematics.

  • Equipment calibration.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Reasonable accommodations are made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

  • Sitting, bending, standing, walking, 8-10 hours per day.

  • Work alone.

  • Repetitively lifts up to 55 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.

  • Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.

  • Exposure to production environment.
