The main purpose and function of the Mill Maintenance is to maintain plant and machinery in a good, safe, and working order.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Routine servicing and inspection of dryer, mills, material conveyance, and other plant equipment.

  • Repair, adjust, and replace plant equipment.

  • Fabricate and design.

  • Assist with servicing of rolling stock as needed.

  • Ensure operating availability of plant and equipment.

  • Work under general supervision.

  • Make decisions under set guidelines and strict safety rules.

  • Interact with other maintenance and production personnel.

  • Responsible for reporting safety, quality, environmental, and equipment concerns to supervisor.

  • Make recommendations to supervisory personnel.

  • Provide cost effective solutions to mechanical problems.

  • Responsible for supplies, tools, and equipment.

  • Make purchases (no cash) under the authority of Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Ensure appropriate consideration is given to safety and environmental concerns.

  • Achieve specific goals established during the annual performance evaluation.

  • Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to API Specification Q1, 9th Edition requirements by complying with the Quality Policy and procedures and meeting QMS objectives.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of General Mechanical experience.

  • Experience working in an API Specification Q1, 9th Edition environment a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Mechanical and fabricating aptitude.

  • Welding and metal-working skills.

  • Trouble-shooting skills.

  • Driver’s license required.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Occasionally work in awkward or cramped positions.

  • Frequently work in elevated places and often work with mechanical and/or electrical hazards.

  • Regularly work alone and outside in variable weather.

  • Frequently work around moving machinery and mobile equipment.

  • Must be able to self-assign work duties and meet reasonable deadlines.

  • Work irregular hours with after-hour call outs.

  • Sitting, bending, standing, walking, 8-10 hours per day.

  • Frequently lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.

  • Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.

  • Exposure to production environment.

  • Periodic travel.
