Robert Half is partnering with a growing Property Management company in the Denver area. The Senior Property Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager of this growing team.

Position Overview:

The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of property accounting, ensuring the accurate and timely financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets. This role will collaborate with the property management team, external auditors, and various internal departments to ensure financial integrity and compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and real estate regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheets, and general ledgers.

  • Generate and review variance analyses and budget-to-actual reports, explaining discrepancies.

  • General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and review general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately posted.

  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

  • Handle accruals, depreciation, prepaids, and expense allocation.

  • Lease Accounting:

  • Review and interpret lease agreements to ensure accurate revenue recognition.

  • Track and account for lease incentives, tenant improvement allowances, and other lease-related expenses.

  • Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.

  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to audit inquiries.

  • Ensure compliance with lender and regulatory requirements for real estate assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the real estate industry.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage), or an ERP systems.

  • Experience managing multiple properties in commercial or residential real estate.
