Our client, a leader in their industry, is currently looking for a Principal Wi-Fi Test Engineer. This position will be responsible for providing wireless technology leadership for the development of wireless technologies including Wi-Fi and mobile, engineering design, and deployment support. It requires hands-on experience with a broad range of wireless technologies including WiFi5, WiFi6 and WiFi7, 4G-LTE and IoT as well as competency with key networking elements such as routing, switching, and security.

Rate: $68 - $78 / hr. w2
Responsibilities:
Provides technology leadership and lead the development of complex end-to-end technology solutions involving devices/CPEs, access, transport, core and backend systems.
Assesses new products requirements and develop technology solutions and architecture design to support them.
Tests & certifies new Small Cells, Home/SMB Routers, Wireless AP (Access Points), Wireless Access Gateways (WAGs) and Controllers products for the field to deploy.
Works with Operations to resolve Wi-Fi and mobile access network issues that could impact the business and/or the customer.
Provides guidelines and technical leadership for the develop of tools and processes to support new products and technology solutions development, testing and validation.
Validate the capabilities of technologies through lab evaluation and possibly field trials. Perform lab evaluation and field trials to validate new technology concepts.
Drives new innovative technologies and approaches (802.11ad/ay, UWB, BNC, Mesh Network, and others) for increasing the performance, reliability, and QoE (Quality of Experience) for customers.
Supports new wireless technologies and other initiatives that may include improving network security, virus detection, virtualization of network functions, along with new applications and services.
Supports efforts to maximize the performance of Wi-Fi (public Wi-Fi infrastructure).
Develops tools and processes for engineering design, testing and certification of new technology solutions and products.
Reviews all designs, code and unit test plans where applicable.
Participates and contribute to RFPs/RFIs, hardware and software evaluations and vendors contracts negotiations.
Experience Requirements:
Must have a deep knowledge in wireless access technologies including WiFi5, WiFi6 and WiFi7, 4G-LTE and familiar with 5G and a clear track record of excellence managing the wireless access engineering systems within an organization of a well-known media brand.
Must be proficient with the use of network diagnostics, troubleshooting and inventory tools, including but not limited to SQL databases, Splunk, Plume, Scope.
Familiarity with the CPE Wireless Gateway and Router designs and roadmap plans for all major Operators in the U.S., Operational experience with Wi-Fi and 4G-LTE, Ability to manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously
Related Work Experience 12+ years – Wireless Technology Development & Management working with the top MSOs, Telco, satellite operators or major wireless vendor in the U.S.
Education Requirements:
- Education- BSEE in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent; MBA preferred. 12+ years of experience.
Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
