Electrical Engineer IV

Job Description:

• Design sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and power distribution systems.

• Create and assess design alternatives, perform engineering calculations, and develop estimates.

• Build and review complex electrical system models, ensuring accuracy.

• Draft electrical specifications for major equipment.

• Model large-scale power systems using ETAP and conduct analyses.

• Prepare bills of materials and technical specifications.

• Conduct field evaluations and site surveys, develop design concepts, and prepare cost estimates.

• Maintain and update the GIS database for electrical distribution systems.

• Stay informed about utility industry standards and codes.

• Support construction personnel and manage projects, including schedules and RFIs.

• Analyze electrical faults, power quality issues, and system loading scenarios.

• Mentor junior engineers.

Essential Skills:

• High voltage experience

• Power systems proficiency

• ETAP software expertise

• Distribution systems knowledge

• PE License

• Management and training skills

• Experience with medium and high voltage systems

• Arc flash studies

• One line and three line diagrams

• Mix of distribution, transmission line, and substation experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems emphasis preferred)

• 8+ years of experience in the electrical utility industry

• Experience with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems

• Expertise in power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Work Environment:

• Team of 35 engineers, typically split into teams of 10

• Up to 20% travel to client sites outside Colorado

• Office work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $138000.00 - $170000.00/yr.

This is a hybrid position in Greenwood Village,CO.
