Merrick & Company Electrical Engineer II in Greenwood Village, Colorado

Overview

We are seeking a full time Electrical Engineer for our Greenwood Village, CO office, supporting our Life Sciences (LS) business unit. This office specializes in the design of facilities and related power systems for Government and private clients. Work assignments include electrical design for power generation, facilities, renovations, research labs, multi-purpose buildings and electrical systems. An agreed upon hybrid schedule, working from both home and office, is available to employees in good Job Description Work involves facility design, site power design, and power analysis/studies. This position requires excellent communication skills for critical facility electrical design. Project work involves a variety of activities including conceptual and detailed design of low voltage (1000V and lower) power distribution, medium voltage (up to 15kV) power distribution, power generation systems (backup power and prime power), grounding and lightning protection systems, lighting systems, and motor control systems. Additionally, experience with facility voice/data communication cabling systems, fire alarm, security access control and security systems are desired. Work also includes developing specifications, field investigations and construction support. Perform engineering and design assignments with minimal direction. Exercise independent design and engineering judgment with collaboration from senior engineers. Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is highly desired. Must be able to work in a team of supporting electrical engineers and designers to execute design projects. This person should have knowledge on electrical regulatory codes and be highly skilled in facility electrical systems design. Candidates are required to meet company expectations for attendance and punctuality. Required Experience Four (4) to eight (8) years of experience in Electrical Engineering design, preferably with entities such as DHS, USDA, CDC, NIH, etc. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering is highly desired, or the ability to obtain PE licensure within 2 years of hire. Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited program is required. Experience using electrical calculation tools is highly desired, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, EasyPower, ETAP or SKM Power Tools. Good proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit based drawing generation experience is highly desired. Working knowledge of NFPA, IBC, ICC, NEC, and IEEE Regulatory Codes is required Facilities electrical design experience is required Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel and Word are required Client projects for this position require US Citizenship. Local candidates are preferred. Physical Requirements Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted. May be required to lift up to 20 lbs. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
