The Wind Turbine Controls Engineer is part of the Turbine Functionality team which is part of the Controls & Operability organization which handles the full lifecycle of wind turbine controls development – development of new technologies, design and implementation on the actual product, prototype and field testing, and field issue resolution. In this role you will develop controls software for the wind turbine mechanical and electrical components. Additionally, you will be responsible for the development, improvement, and quality assurance of wind turbine control systems. This role provides first-hand knowledge of wind turbines & controls system design.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Gather software level requirements, and execute wind turbine controls system and software development

  • Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and develop comprehensive requirements for wind turbine software features and components

  • Develop test cases for new or existing wind turbine control features

  • Create engineering documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • Solid understanding of programming basics

  • Experience in one of more of the following areas demonstrated through course work, internships, or other experiences:control systems and algorithm design, software development for embedded systems, PLC platforms and communication protocols, sensors, signal processing

  • Wind Turbine Technology Experience is a strong plus but not required

  • Experience with Model-Based Design techniques using Mathworks Simulink or comparable tool

  • Passionate about renewable energy and/or sustainability
