Kelly Services Senior Product Development Engineer in Greenville, South Carolina

Kelly Engineering is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer for our client in Duncan, SC. This is a direct hire role and offers a hybrid onsite/remote schedule.

Job Summary: The Senior Product Development Engineer will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the development and improvement of our products. This position involves leading cross-functional project teams, managing project timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensuring that new products meet quality and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the entire product development lifecycle from concept to production, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing to define project scope and objectives.

  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor progress against these metrics.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses for new product ideas.

  • Oversee the design, prototype development, and testing phases, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Facilitate regular project meetings, track project milestones, and prepare status reports for stakeholders.

  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and design reviews to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry trends to inform project and product development strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in product development engineering and project management, preferably in the manufacturing industry.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex product development projects from concept to market.

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana).

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and quality control.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Professional Project Management (PMP) certification.

  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
