Process Engineer, Automation

This position is responsible for driving sustained automation improvements to the manufacturing process. The position should achieve higher process yields and lower COGS by focusing on equipment reliability and increased utilization rate by leading / supporting multiple site-based equipment reliability initiatives, implementing relevant automation projects, and supporting daily uptime needs

Key Actitives:

  • Lead/support equipment reliability initiatives.

  • Support equipment uptime needs for the filling and/or packaging manufacturing areas.

  • Identify automation opportunities to improve manufacturing robustness and increase yields through improved equipment performance and solution and component utilization.

  • Lead and manage projects to improve process performance and reduce liquid waste and product rejects.

  • Lead and support investigations to troubleshoot, identify root cause, and resolve manufacturing issues.

  • Develop innovative manufacturing engineering controls to support uptime and yield improvements.

  • Apply statistical tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and multivariate analysis, to drive understanding of product/process interactions to drive process optimization and minimize product risk.

  • Support manufacturing process validation and documentation activities.

  • Support automation subjects in strategic capital projects as necessary.

Minimum Qualitications:

  • BS/MS in Electrical, Computer, or other relevant engineering degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in similar role, preferably within a medical device/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Desired Certifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

  • Sig Sigma Green Belt

  • Six Sigma Black Belt

  • PMP Certification

Required Experience:

  • Proven track record in equipment reliability within a controlled manufacturing environment.

  • Leading process improvement projects with measured results in product/process improvements.

  • Familiar with the manufacturing environment of Solutions formulations, chemical batch manufacturing, and sterile filling.

  • Process development and validation and familiarity with FDA regulated products.

  • Familiar with product and process change management and quality systems.

Required Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.

  • Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis, preferably multivariate, and experience with statistical software packages.

  • Strong communication and interactive skills; capable of working independently or on project teams as required.
