GREENVILLE WATER Field Services Representative Trainee in Greenville, South Carolina

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this classification is to turn on or turn off water services, dispatch work orders, and perform a variety of additional duties related to the meter readings and inspections of customers served by Greenville Water.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF FIELD SERVICE REPRESENTIVE:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Verifies service information on all meter sizes to ensure proper identification, initiates or terminates water service and obtains meter readings on all accounts requesting change to enable proper billing.
  • Assists customers in the resolution of service problems and leaks by answering questions and providing information, in order to enhance customer relations.
  • Communicates with customers to increase awareness of problems observed while on site, policies, and guidelines.
  • Maintains motor vehicles, equipment and supplies necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Routes work orders.
  • Conducts pressure and flow tests to determine need for repairs.
  • Turns water service on or off and/or transfers service for customers; turns services off in emergencies, as required.
  • Reviews and verifies meter readings indicating high or low consumption; checks for and reports meter condition and leaks.
  • Disconnects/Locks service for non-payment, returned checks, contract requirements; and reconnects service as directed.
  • Makes and reviews drawings to determine crossed accounts and meter locations and reports finding to appropriate department.
  • Responds to and completes work orders from Customer Service and Building.
  • Advises Customer Service of possible problems; receives and responds to customer inquiries, complaints and requests for service.
  • Troubleshoots problems with automated meter readings units and electronic radio transfers; replaces equipment as needed.
  • Inspects and reports broken cut-offs, boxes, and leaks at meter, including suspected tampering.
  • Maintains work vehicle.
  • Installs and calibrates automated meter reading program units.
  • Performs installation/removal of water meters.
  • Prepares and installs new AMR equipment; photographs old registers; replaces unresponsive AMR equipment; and maintains related records.
  • Participates in employee training as assigned.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with Greenville Water safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and cleanliness of work vehicle.
  • Performs meter-reading duties as necessary.
  • Works after-hours duty as scheduled or needed.
  • Prepares and submits routine reports, records, forms, etc., as required, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participates in the maintenance of positive customer relations.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other supervisors and employees, customers, and the general public.
  • Delivers/picks up mail, packages, orders, etc., as needed.
  • Performs related duties as required.

FIELD SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE TRAINEE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by three (3) years of experience with meter reading/maintenance and/or general electrical service and repair work, is preferred; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license, and obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within six months of hire.

FIELD SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the Minimum Qualifications for a Field Services Representative Trainee:

Must have wo ked for at least 1 year as a Field Services Representative Trainee for Greenville Water or the equivalent with another Water Utility. And, must have attended Driver Safety Training (4 hour class).
