(HYG), a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Senior Lab Technician with a specialization in fabrication at our Warehouse Product Development Center located in Greenville, NC .

What you will do:

  • Fabricate and assemble fixtures and prototypes required for testing purposes.

  • Conduct tests using laboratory and portable equipment, following instructions from design or test engineers.

  • Make modifications to existing parts, products, and fixtures as needed for testing.

  • Design and fabricate simple fixtures with minimal supervision.

  • Assemble, modify, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems of lift trucks.

  • Perform maintenance on lift trucks within the product development center lab to ensure their proper functioning.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety protocols.

  • Interface with internal and external suppliers to source parts that cannot be fabricated in the product development center lab.

  • Create and modify data files for water jet, laser, or plasma cutters from CAD data.

  • Provide feedback to design and test engineers to improve products and processes.

  • Skilled Fabricator: You have experience in fabricating and assembling fixtures and prototypes for testing purposes.

  • Technical Troubleshooter: You can troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems, ensuring lift trucks function properly.

  • Team Player: You work well in a team environment and can collaborate effectively with design engineers, service engineers, and manufacturing teams.

  • Safety Conscious: You prioritize safety in the workplace and adhere to safety guidelines and protocols.

  • Problem Solver: You have strong problem-solving skills and can identify issues and propose solutions to improve products and processes.

What you will need:

  • High School diploma with at least 10 years of work experience is required.

  • Or an Associate of Science degree in automotive, engineering or electronics technology with a minimum of 5 years applicable experience is desirable.

  • Certified welder with experience in MIG, TIG and stick welding is desirable.

Skills, Experience & Abilities:

  • Experience in fabrication and assembly, preferably in a testing or manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and make modifications.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide feedback to improve products and processes.

  • Commitment to safety and maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Proficiency in basic hand tools, shop tools, and fabrication processes.

  • Physical capability of lifting and manipulating items up to 20kg, climbing stairs, driving a small truck, operating a lift truck, and walking distances up to 1 km.

Additional Skills Desired:

  • Proficiency in CAD software for designing and modifying fixtures and parts.

  • Ability to read blueprints with understanding of tolerances and welding symbols.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Teams).

  • Highly desirable: Experience with CAN-based control systems and portable data acquisition equipment.

  • Highly desirable: Experience with mobile industrial equipment (materials handling, automotive, construction, agricultural, or similar).

  • Desirable: Experience with CAD software for reading and querying existing files, and ability to do simple design work in CAD.

  • Highly desirable: Experience with rapid prototyping equipment and processes.
