About the role

Furnace Helper

Hourly non-union

The typical hiring range for this role is $ $18.00 - 22.00 per hour and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).

Key responsibilities

Summary

Operates the furnaces in a safe, efficient manner to produce liquid smoke to meet customer commitments, company objectives and quality standards.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Assist the furnace operator with calciner operations.

Perform necessary tests to adjust furnaces for optimum production & quality.

Record operational data of furnaces.

Rod out furnace per schedule

Grease, oil, & lube furnaces, as required.

Perform scheduled sanitation duties.

Burnout furnaces as required.

Maintain neat, clean, and organized furnace and control rooms by cleaning daily.

Keeps furnace room clean and safe.

Complies with all corporate safety and environmental regulations and procedures.

Complies with all HACCP Food Safety procedures, GMPS, and guidelines.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Assist the furnace operator with calciner operations.

Loads char.

Back up for dryer operator when necessary

Qualifications and skills

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability kneel, bend, squat, stoop, carry, reach, stand, grip, push, pull, arm extensions and perform elevated work.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Ability to work overtime and use a flexible schedule.

PFT & respirator fit test required

Working at heights / climbing ladders

Work Environment

Ability to work in hot, cold or wet environments.
