At Advance Auto Parts (Advance), our communications team plays an important role in ensuring the Advance brand is top-of-mind with customers and viewed as a leader in the automotive aftermarket industry. We are seeking an enthusiastic communications professional to join our team and help drive leadership communications in support of a variety of company initiatives, from culture to technology to sustainability and more. This role requires a high level of strategic thinking and independent decision making. The ideal candidate must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. He/she must have experience working with all levels of management, including senior executives; a deep understanding of how to communicate to internal and external audiences; excellent writing and presentation skills; and a strategic and creative mindset.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support strategic planning, project management and agency oversight for various executive communications initiatives

  • Develop media messaging to ensure executives can effectively tell the Advance story externally

  • Develop internal communications on behalf of executives, spanning a variety of topics

  • Develop digital content that brings to life the voices and viewpoints of executives (e.g., blogs, LinkedIn posts)

  • Research and write award entries on behalf of Advance and our executives

  • Coordinate executive speaking opportunities, including development of talking points and presentation materials, as needed

  • Support crisis and issues communications, as needed

  • Stay informed of key issues and trends impacting the company and industry

  • Support other communications projects, as needed

  • 10+ years of previous experience in a similar role

  • Deep understanding of earned media landscape and how to work with reporters

  • Prior experience leading internal communications projects

  • Professional demeanor with the ability to represent the company among a variety of internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent writing skills and experience in developing executive speeches, press materials and messaging, and bylined articles, with the ability to develop materials under extremely tight timelines

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Strong judgment and ability to think strategically and creatively

  • Demonstrated results with program development and project management from beginning to end

  • Team player who works well among a diverse team

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Accurate and detail-oriented

  • Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field from four-year college or university; and

  • 10+ years of combined experience in communications, public relations, community relations, or related role; PR Agency experience preferred
