The Director of Scholarships, reporting directly to the Dean, will provide strategic leadership for the Honors College’s scholarship programs and related academic excellence, outreach, and student services initiatives.This position will oversee and direct the Honors College’s three signature cohort-based scholarship programs: the Cheatham-White Scholars Program, Dowdy Scholars Program, and February One Scholars Program. Responsibilities include program design, student selection and recruitment, academic and professional development activities, and fostering faculty involvement.
In addition, the Director will develop a comprehensive strategy for scholarship outreach and pipeline development, ensuring sustained engagement with prospective students, donors, and key stakeholders. The role requires collaboration across the university to enhance scholarship support services, as well as supervision of staff responsible for implementing scholarship-related initiatives.
The Director may also need to participate in field trips or service projects with students and scholars, requiring them to serve as a designated driver. The Director will also lead assessment efforts for these programs to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with institutional goals. Other duties as assigned.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The North Carolina A&T State University Honors College is the unit on campus responsible for creating a series of programming, curricular and co-curricular initiatives that assists high-achieving students excel in their college careers.
The Honors College has grown to over 900 current students representing nearly every academic department on campus. Requirements:
Master’s degree in student services or a related field
Professional experience managing and developing events
Professional experience supporting student recruitment communications and activities
Proven ability to work effectively with stakeholder groups from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion
Strong writing, communications and presentation skills
Demonstrated familiarity and competence with basic office technologies (email, word processing, social media, website navigation)
Ability to use analytics to assess and revise work activities
Experience managing concurrent short- and long-term projects
Preferred:
Five years of professional experience within a higher education setting managing events and/or recruitment activities
Five years experience supervising or overseeing student employees
Experience working with students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education
Experience developing, planning and implementing events to support student engagement and success
Experience in use of assessment tools to inform co-curricular and curricular initiatives and programs
Familiarity with honors programs or colleges

This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. N.C. A&T employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
