Volvo Group Co-op: Supply chain and Logistics (Fall 2021) in Greensboro, North Carolina

Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), a division of Volvo Group North America, provides state-of-the-art research, engineering, product planning and project execution to final delivery of complete products and also supports the products in the aftermarket.

Position Description

We are currently looking for a student to work with our Product Builds Team as Prototype Supplier Quality Assurance. The student should be prepared to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment, gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of supply chain in project development. As a valued member of the Product Builds Team within GTT, the student will have the opportunity to work directly with the engineering and procurement departments. GTT’s goal is to contribute to the student’s development, as well as providing an opportunity for the student to work in a business environment within the manufacturing industry. This position will report to the Product Builds Prototype Procurement, Purchasing and Logistics Manager.


This Co-Op position will start in August and end in December, and will be 40 hrs./week

Position Responsibilities

  • The position is focused on prototype Supply Chain Management in close cooperation with current Prototype Buyers, Delivery Controllers and Material Controllers in Product Builds US

  • You will be part of Product Builds Purchasing, Procurement & Logistic team, mainly responsible for all prototype parts deliveries, to support Supply Chain Management

  • You will work in close cooperation within a logistic team in Greensboro and a delivery controller team located in India and you will support prototype deliveries to our production plants

  • You will have to perform an Audit to check the current process and identify some improvement areas.

  • You will need to create Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to follow parts quality and Prototype internal deliveries

  • You will implement new KPIs and action for improvements

  • You will work in accordance with the Volvo Group processes and the Volvo Way

  • The position will report to the Product Builds Purchasing, Procurement and Logistics Manager


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

  • Experience in Supply chain is a must

  • Business understanding and project management

  • Experience within automotive business preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Co-op/Internship Education and Program Requirements

  • Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Manufacturing systems Engineering or Supply chain and Logistics at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the co-op/internship.

  • Co-ops are required to work 40 hours per week and must be enrolled as full-time student

  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
