The Raymond Corporation IT 3rd Shift Systems Operator - Greene, NY in Greene, New York

About our company:

The Raymond Corporation is a member of the Toyota Industries Family of Companies. We empower you to do great work in a company with 100 years of success, innovation and growth. Our Associates are the foundation of our continued success. If you’re innovative and enjoy the thrill of making things happen - share our vision and grow with us.

About our team:

In a complex and challenging environment, our ability to meet the needs of our internal and external customers through innovation, adaptability and efficient use of resources is critical. The IT 3rd Shift Systems Operator plays an important role in preparing our JD Edwards manufacturing software for the next day’s production. Early detection of a problem has a direct impact on the number of forklifts produced at our major manufacturing facilities in Greene, New York and Muscatine, Iowa.

The IT 3rd Shift Systems Operator primarily works alone while monitoring system progress on our iSeries. The submission of each program run during the shift has been outsourced, however monitoring the results is still a Raymond responsibility. There will be times when the role will transition from monitoring the programs to submitting the programs. There could be any number of reasons why the remote contractor cannot access our on-premises systems. On these rare occasions the 3rd Shift Systems Operator is our insurance policy, protecting our delivery commitments to our customers.

About the position:

As a key member of the IT Manufacturing Systems Team, you will:

  • Use iSeries operating system commands to monitor program completions and execute first-level diagnostics, looking for situations like file locks.
  • Submit jobs, put jobs on hold, change the priority on jobs, and move jobs from one queue to another.
  • Maintain high-volume printers, resolve printing problems, and distribute printed output.
  • Operate the tape drive for disaster recovery purposes and verify completion status.
  • Restore files when requested.
  • Contact second-level support for problems that you are not able to resolve.
  • Execute an IPL (Initial Program Load) when requested to by second-tier support.
  • Update work instructions.
  • Perform other IT related projects/tasks as required.

About the work schedule:

Due to the responsibility for production-critical hardware like the printers and the tape drive, and for the need to eliminate remote access dependencies like internet and VPN, this is an onsite position in Greene, New York.

The hours for this role are 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Additionally, to allow for the execution of a complete systems backup (SAVSYS), there is some shuffling of work hours that has to occur on the second Sunday of each month. On that day, work hours are 7:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

About you:

  • Four or more years of experience with IBM I OS v7.3 (or newer) is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools including Teams, SharePoint, Project, Visio, and Excel.
