JOB SUMMARY:

The Technician will support senior technicians and engineers in building and validation of equipment and fixturing / tooling. This role will provide support in the assembly of fixturing and related systems/sub-systems. The objective is to validate new tooling designs as part of new tooling / fixture development as well as resolve issues on current tooling. The Technician is expected to build, document and provide feedback to Design Engineering as part of their daily function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Assemble, disassemble, and fabricate complex/customized parts, mechanical structures and fixtures in partnership with engineers and senior level technicians.

  • Maintain a safe work environment, adhere to all safety procedures during all aspects of job performance which includes regular exposure to personal and physical hazards.

  • Work directly with Quality Technicians to make adjustments to tooling and fixtures based on CMM results to satisfy the Engineering drawing requirements.

  • Participate in fixture builds, run-off and inspection activities. This will include collaboration with Operations team members on processes, loading sequences and adjustments for ergonomic design.

  • Put together reports with pictures and summaries for the job at hand, including feedback on the designs to our Design Engineers.

  • Handle heavy weldments with overheads and other lifting apparatuses to safely assemble fixtures and tooling.

  • Operate heavy equipment/machinery or drive vehicles as required for the purposes of building and material handling.

  • Determine appropriate tools and devices for proper assembly of components.

  • Plan and schedule daily activities to complete assignments in their order of priority to make effective use of time and ensure projects are being completed within identified timeline.

  • Communicate effectively and work cross functionally to resolve technical problems including the ability to provide constructive feedback to all levels of the organization. Interpret and execute written/verbal directions and instructions.

  • Microsoft outlook, Powerpoint, excel and word skill sets are required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical Diploma with three (3) years of experience in an engineering environment or equivalent*.

  • Ability to travel 5%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree with three (3) years of experience in an engineering environment or equivalent*.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Knowledge of automotive and mechanical terms.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast pace environment.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Verbal and written communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Physical Demands: Frequent Standing, Walking/Running, Reaching, Driving, Bending/Kneeling, Hearing, Talking, Visual, Manual Dexterity; Occasional Climbing, Typing, Fine Dexterity, Lifting/Carrying and Pushing/Pulling up to 50lbs.; Seldom Sitting, Upper Extremity Repetitive Motion.

*Note: equivalent equates approximately four (4) years of on the job experience to one (1) year of formal education.
