Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Environment and Land Manager is responsible for optimizing and implementing environment-related processes and compliance assurance programs within the assigned area. This includes ensuring environmental policies are in line with Holcim priorities and compliance with relevant regulations. The role also manages all aspects of designated company land assets, including acquisitions, leases, permitting, and divestments.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Actively promote and champion company safety programs and projects.

  • Ensure compliance for all area plants and operations with site-specific issues, including all permits, renewals, extensions, and related reporting.

  • Prepare and manage environmental documentation and applications for permits and licenses, ensuring accurate and timely submission.

  • Proactively monitor and resolve compliance issues by providing technical support and regulatory guidance to operations.

  • Oversee land management activities, including acquisitions, divestments, lease agreements, and zoning. Manage the preparation, maintenance, and compliance of mining and reclamation permits, including timely completion of zoning applications and community relations initiatives.

  • Develop and lead stakeholder relations efforts by working with internal staff and attending public meetings, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.

  • Provide strategic land-related advice to management, identifying opportunities to minimize risks and maximize value.

  • Ensure full and accurate use of the Land Information System for land management practices.

  • Stay up to date with local, state, and federal environmental and land-use laws, including involvement with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regulatory inspections.

  • Conduct internal environmental compliance audits and assist with site environmental upgrades, ensuring ongoing compliance with all legal requirements.

  • Prepare required environmental reports, including Tier II, TRI, Emission, and Air Permit Compliance reports, and assist with various permit applications as needed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree or 7 years of equivalent experience.

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Environmental Engineering or equivalent

Required Work Experience: 7-10 years

Required Training/Certifications: Formal training in leadership, team building, continuous improvements, and related fields.

Licenses Preferred: Professional Engineering License is a plus

Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency in Land Information System, ENVOY, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other related programs.

Travel Requirements: 10% within the region.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong problem-solving skills, including interpretation of rules, laws, and agreements.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and work within regulatory frameworks.

  • High proficiency in general office software tools and ability to travel to external locations and attend public meetings, sometimes at night.

  • Strong understanding of public relations, zoning, and permitting processes, as well as real estate transactions and agreements.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
