We will be offering a Lifeguard certification course beginning soon, with a tuition reimbursement program available for successful candidates. We offer flexible scheduling and are currently seeking candidates who have early daytime availablity! We offer a great hourly rate and also pay a shift differential for weekend shifts.

The Lifeguard will monitor activities in the Aquatics Center, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents protect life and enforce regulations. The Lifeguard will also assist with the implementation of programs, special events and swim lessons.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position.   1. Considerately and patiently enforce pool rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors & employees.

  2. Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions.

  3. Maintain order in swimming areas.

  4. Assist in development, training, and teaching American Red Cross swim lessons when assigned as a Water Safety Instructor.

  5. Must be able to analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger.

  6. Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.

  7. Provide first aid, rescue breathing and CPR when needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1 year of experience in lifeguarding

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED certification and American Red Cross Lifeguard certification are provided with tuition reimbursement available; hire as a lifeguard is contingent on successful completion of this training.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Uses a variety of office equipment including a computer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, printers and projection machines. Operate motor vehicles in the execution of some essential functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Experience working with diverse groups of people in age, ethnicity, and abilities.

  • Ability to handle youth and handle disciplinary issues effectively.

  • Ability to interact with the general public in a calm, rational manner.

  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong personnel management skills, including the ability to delegate, motivate, and create a sense of team among the staff.

  • Ability to anticipate future trends and position the Kroc Center in the market so that it sets, and/or maintains pace with, those trends.

  • Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule.

  • Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented.

  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.

  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

  • Ability to work in a team setting with other professionals.

    This job is performed at times in an office environment at normal room temperature. The noise level in this work environment is usually low.
