The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Spanish or related field with a focus on Mexican literature and/or culture of the 20th or 21st centuries with a secondary field in one of the following areas: heritage language and culture, border studies, or migration studies. We are seeking a candidate whose research, teaching, and service will serve to advance UWGBs transition to be Hispanic Serving Institution. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong commitment to engaging the Hispanic/Latinx community with the university. In addition to teaching all levels of Spanish language courses and a wide range of upper-division courses, the ideal candidate will help develop new courses in traditional or on-line formats. This position includes the following responsibilities: Teach courses at the undergraduate level in Spanish. Contribute to ongoing curriculum review and expansion. Advise/mentor students. Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank. Perform institutional, community, and professional service. Contribute to the ongoing development of the department. SPECIAL NOTES: The home campus of this position is Green Bay, and the successful candidate may be required to teach an occasional course at the Marinette, Sheboygan, or Manitowoc Campus. Position is an academic year, tenure-track appointment. Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years, although tenure decisions may be at any time. ABD candidates will be considered; however, an earned doctorate in Spanish, or closely related field, from an accredited institution is a necessary condition for contract renewal. ABD candidates will be hired into a terminal appointment at the rank of Instructor with a rate determined at the time of hire. Upon degree conferral during the terminal period, the contracted appointment with the rank of Assistant Professor will be reinstated.
