The focus of this role is the technical services side of the business, specifically in the Food Safety and Regulatory areas, assisting in creating and managing the food safety programs, guiding the facilities to meet regulatory requirements, assist in the preparation of customer and third party audits. This includes working with multiple departmental leaders and associates at the corporate and facility locations to provide information and reports to enhance decision making and improve processes.


  • Assist facilities in creating and managing food safety programs and implementation of the programs.

  • Oversee the writing, implementation, and maintenance of the facilities’ HACCP plans for slaughter, variety meats, fabrication, and ground beef operations.

  • Visit the regional beef facilities on a consistent basis to align processes and ensure compliance to programs.

  • Create new SOPs for the facilities and maintain/update existing SOPs.

  • Principle organizer for a mock internal facility audit to encompass expectations for meeting third party standards (i.e., BRC) and regulatory requirements.

  • Understand basic microbiological testing concepts and reporting of laboratory results.

  • Complete understanding of USDA-FSIS regulatory requirements and have the ability to interpret the requirements to the facilities and the organization to maintain compliance.

  • Analyzing data and preparing written reports of findings, as needed.

  • Ability to travel to facilities on average 40-50%

  • Build internal and external relationships with the USDA-FSIS, USDA-APHIS, FDA, USDA-AMS, vendors, suppliers, customers, and contractors, industry organizations

  • Any other tasks as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Meat Science, Ag. Economics or equivalent experience.

  • HACCP certificate a must.

  • 5 years in a production role or related experience or deemed equivalent experience.

  • Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail.

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Powerpoint, and Word required.

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and ask questions as needed.

  • Excellent communicator in both verbal and writing areas.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

  • Base salary range of $90,000 - $110,000; and

  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
