Weld District 6 Schools-Greeley/Evans HVAC Journeyman in Greeley, Colorado
Salary: $30.43 per hour plus benefits/Range 35 Additional salary credit may be given for internal transfers and recent Greeley-Evans School District 6 rehires, up to $48.80 per hour plus benefits.
Contract Length/ Days: (2024-2025/ 260 Days; M-F 6:00 am 2:30 pm)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Required: High school diploma or GED Valid Colorado driver s license Verifiable skills in the mechanical trade Universal refrigerant license (can be obtained after hire) First Aid/CPR within six months Asbestos Operations & Maintenance Certification within six months Mold Awareness Certification within six months Any other combination of related education, experience, and training Preferred: Completion of a recognized trades apprentice program for a specialized mechanical trade
JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective: The employee performs skilled work in the maintenance of heating and cooling systems in all district buildings. The emphasis is on troubleshooting, optimizing performance of equipment, installing new equipment and upgrading older equipment. Work is conducted with little supervision. Work methods and procedures usually are determined by the employee and results are assessed by the supervisor. The employee may supervise the work of a small number of employees.
Essential Functions: Performs work according to printed information on the Facilities Department work order system. Accomplishes duties of mechanical maintenance and repair without direct supervision on a daily basis. Diagnoses trouble in cooling and boiler control circuits, supply, and return systems, and repairs, replaces, or modifies the malfunctioning unit. Calibrates and adjusts thermostats to maintain a proper balance of temperature in classroom and work areas. Services, adjusts and maintains flame safeguards on boilers, reads stack temperatures and gases and adjusts burners for most efficient combustion. Overhauls and maintains large air conditioning and cooling towers. Directs the activities of other technicians. Operates heavy equipment or other tools as needed.

Ability to respond under pressure to immediate situations while maintaining courteous and professional relationships with staff members and the public. Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to use good judgment and common sense. Ability to follow established safety practices. Ability to work independently and with others. Ability to read and interpret plans (blueprints). Excellent math skills. Ability to perform all functions of the position.
Other Duties: Drives various fleet vehicles daily. Maintains assigned assets, vehicles, and tools. May participate in asbestos removal with appropriate training. Removes snow and responds to emergencies. Knowledge and skills sufficient to perform all duties of the position. Prefers a work environment where flexibility, ability to deal with conflict, a high tolerance for stress, an ability to quickly internalize information and make informed d cisions, and long hours are a part of the assignment.
