Job Summary

The selected student worker, under supervision of the Lab Coordinator, assists with farm tasks at the off-campus Greenbelt Farm. These tasks include planting, watering, harvesting, pest management, and other tasks as assigned including working alongside and guiding farm apprentices ages 16-24 and high school aged Youth Farmers.

Required Qualification(s)

  1. Ability to get to/from worksite at Greenbelt Forest Preserve during assigned hours.

  2. Strong communication skills.

  3. Ability to do physical labor and lift minimum of 50 pounds on regular basis.

  4. Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

  5. Tolerance of outdoor working conditions in all weather.

  6. Must be enrolled for at least 3 credit hours over the summer or 6 credit hours in the fall.

  7. Must have or maintain a 2.0 GPA

    Work Schedule

Monday-Thursday 8:00am-1:00pm with flexibility for classes. Some Saturdays for watering duties may be required. Position runs through the end of the growing season.
