Position Overview
Welcome to the role of
Traffic Control Flagger II - Fiber Optics.In this position, you will provide a safe work zone for both company personnel and the general public through monitoring and directing the flow of traffic in Fiber Optic work zones. This position requires attention to surroundings and the ability to identify traffic concerns and hazards.
This position should be proficient with traffic control plans and procedures, safety protocols, signaling devices, and, federal, state and local regulations.
What You'll Do
- Act as the MOT (Manager of Traffic) on assigned jobs and lead other Traffic Control Flaggers on those jobs
- Responsible for communicating and educating all personnel on site with regard to traffic plans and flow to ensure safety
- Properly identify, implement, and communicate traffic control plans as provided by the state or locality where work is being performed
- Direct traffic safely through work zones by properly setting up and tearing down signaling devices such as road signs, barriers, cones, etc.
- Safely perform work along roadways by maintaining appropriate positioning for visibility
- Maintain awareness of safety regulations and guidelines related to traffic control operations
- Maintain awareness of environmental hazards that might require a shut-down of work such as fog, ice, lightning, etc., and communicate with Project Managers and on-site personnel to quickly respond to those hazards
- Stay up-to-date on emergency procedures such as proper response to accidents, incidents, and hazardous situations including how to communicate with emergency responders and assist with traffic management during emergencies
- Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal regulations surrounding traffic control and work zone safety
- Operate basic hand tools ( Cordless Drill, Hammer, Wrench, Socket Set)
- Safely operate a vehicle with an attached trailer to transport flagging materials between locations
- Properly use standard flagging techniques and signals such as handheld flags, paddles, etc.
- Assist with site clean up and organize tools and supplies for safe storage
- Maintain radio communication with other flaggers and construction personnel
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy when interacting with motorists
- Assist with worksite housekeeping duties and equipment inspections
- Assist with performing minor field repairs on equipment
- Recognize general safety hazards such as missing and or degraded parts and hardware
Working Conditions

What You'll Bring
1+ years of flagging experience required
Valid drivers license required
ATSSA Flagger Certification required
Traffic Control Certifications in multiple states required
Possess or ability to obtain MTBMA Temporary Traffic Control Manager Certification within 60 days
Proficient with basic traffic control safety and best practices
Ability to work under minimal supervision and as part of a team
Possess verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintai
