At Mycorrhizal Applications (MA), we are dedicated to sustainability by providing the agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, and forestry industries with efficient and effective microbial-based biorational solutions. As the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of mycorrhizal soil inoculants, MA researches, produces, and markets mycorrhizal fungi which accelerate plant performance by greatly increasing the surface absorbing area of roots, producing a healthier root system.

Description of Job:

The purpose of this leadership position is to act as a strategic talent business partner for the Mycorrhizal Applications business, in partnership with functional and local management. This position is responsible for all Human Resources, Training and Administrative functions across the business in an effort to help scale the business for continued growth.

Principal Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Partner with local plant leadership to ensure complete understanding of human capital needs and objectives aligned with the business strategy.

  • Analyze employment trends to identify areas of opportunity; develop recommendations for improvement and implement practices or processes as approved. Areas of opportunity and ownership may include, but are not limited to, labor hour management, recruitment, workforce planning, workforce scheduling, job design, or training and development.

  • Respond to employee and manager requests for assistance on issues relating to policy interpretation, employee conflict, employment law, benefit administration, and other areas managed by the Human Resources function.

  • Help the business scale across multiple locations through recruitment, hiring, orientation, onboarding, and training for new hires.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS

  • Ensure safe working conditions in coordination with the EHS Manager.

  • Manage the HR budget.

  • Maintain all site personnel files, I-9 records, drug and alcohol screening and background investigation results, and other personnel records.

  • Manage the site training and administrative functions.

  • Assist in the annual performance review function. Develop and enforce consistent procedures to be implemented in performance reviews.

  • Handle employment-related inquiries, such as employment verification requests and unemployment compensation inquiries and proceedings.

  • Develop, implement and participate in employee recognition programs.

  • Participate in LEAN and/or ISO processes to ensure compliance specific to Human Resources in support of the plant.

  • Follow and enforce good manufacturing practices.

  • Manage the temporary labor process.

  • Facilitate updating all HR systems including the HRIS, Payroll and timekeeping administration processes.

  • Coach employees through implementing new or changed HR policies, process or programs.

  • Report relevant HR information to Corporate HR, as appropriate.

Experience:

  • PHR or SPHR certification, preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law

  • Familiarity with HR information and payroll systems.

  • Experience with manufacturing practices based on LEAN principles and initiatives.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to influence decision makers.

  • Self-motivated, proactive and results oriented.

Education:

  • Typically, a bachelor’s degree; or 5-7 years of equivalent generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.

Travel:

  • 5-10%
