Summary: Coordinates and performs a variety of functions in relation to the monitoring and investigation of gaming activities and casino operations.

The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by this position. Employee(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists in ensuring the proper protection and security of the Casino’s assets.

  • Observes all areas of the Casino for compliance with Company policies and procedures, minimum internal controls, and gaming regulations.

  • Routinely scans the Casino property for any suspicious or illegal activity.

  • Performs random monitoring of all Casino departments and areas.

  • Monitors, detects, and records cheating, theft, embezzlement, and other forms of illegal activity by guests and/or employees taking place on Casino property.

  • Observes money handling functions, transfers of funds and sensitive/controlled items within the gaming facility.

  • Conducts a variety of investigations in relation to unresolved cash handling, gaming operations, and/or other activities.

  • Participates in and performs clandestine surveillance and monitoring activities as required.

  • Utilizes and maintains various types of surveillance equipment.

  • Prepares and maintains a variety of surveillance records and reports.

  • Notifies appropriate departmental supervisors and outside law enforcement agencies of the detection of illegal activity.

  • May assume the responsibilities of the Surveillance Supervisor in his/her absence.

Required Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of surveillance to include card counting/advantage play.

  • Surveillance equipment and technology.

  • Casino operations, policies, and procedures.

  • Regulations governing gaming operations and surveillance activities.

  • Surveillance reports, records, and documentation.

Required Skill in:

  • Coordinating and performing a variety of surveillance functions.

  • Assisting in ensuring the appropriate protection and security of the Casino’s assets.

  • Utilizing and maintaining various types of surveillance equipment.

  • Accurately preparing and maintaining surveillance reports and documentation.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years casino surveillance experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • High security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission.

  • Successful completion of the Agent Certification test is required.

  • Candidates for this position must pass a basic math test.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.

  • Will be required to take a Surveillance skill assessment.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in a gaming environment with exposure to tobacco smoke and noise.

  • Work is subject to frequent sitting, intermittent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Equipment and Tools Utilized:

  • Equipment utilized includes surveillance equipment, video recording devices, cameras, personal computer, and standard office equipment.
