Position Summary
The Program Manager will be responsible for providing administrative support for the Principal Investigator. The goal of the grant is to implement substance use education at MSU and UAB; including clinical placements using the MI CARES curriculum. Activities include organizing and managing the day-to-day operation of all phases of the educational and research support provided to students across institutions, conferring, as needed, with the Principal Investigator;
• Coordinate existing relationships with clinical site placements for MSU and UAB;
• Manage meetings through scheduling, facilitating, and taking minutes for work meetings with faculty and staff members;
• Develop communication modalities and tracking for project management;
• Provide ongoing support needs;
• Coordinate gradebooks and assignments for medical students during their MI CARES course;
• Assist with quality improvement and evaluation efforts as appropriate;
• Assist with recruitment and retention of clinical site placements;
• Assist with the development of data collection tools and strategies;
• Monitor project data;
• Monitors budget, staff payroll, and purchasing of supplies. Maintains current records of spending.
• Conduct ongoing quality assurance so study activities meet approved MSU and collaborative site-specific IRB standards;
• Communicate any questions to the appropriate staff or faculty for clarification and follow-up to affect a solution;
• Manage student recruitment and records processes;
• Prepare written and verbal reports to the Principal Investigators;
• Assist in the development and delivery of periodic and annual reports to the funding agencies, written and verbal; and contribute to grant proposal drafting;
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Management or degree field related to education; three to five years of related and progressively more expansive work experience in project management, business analysis, facilitating/training with a focus on business management; workflow process analysis and implementation of strategic initiatives or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with persons with a substance use disorder.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with persons with a substance use disorder. The ideal candidate will have a history of curriculum development, teaching, and training. Strong program management skills and ability to work independently. Communications content management (written, verbal, digital) experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation, calendaring software, desktop publishing and/or project management software. Excellent oral and written skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. High degree of computer literacy; Sound analytical and organizational skills; Able to structure tasks and set priorities independently; Ability to identify problems and develop solutions according to appropriate timetables.
