First Generation-Program Coordinator

WORK LOCATION: Grand Rapids - Lettinga Campus

DEPARTMENT: Academic-Administration

POSITION PAY RANGE: $17.00-19.00, hourly. Actual pay offered will be commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience, and pay equity both internal and external.

SUMMARY:

The 1st Generation program coordinator provides administrative and professional support to the Director of Student Transitions and Academic Readiness. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with other departments university wide to coordinate first gen programming. This position will also manage the first generation database and the mentoring software platform. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values, which include diversity, equity and inclusion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with the coordination of the 1st Generation Peer Mentoring Program. • Manage Graduway software. • Gather and analyze data to report on Program Metrics • Assist with the marketing and planning of special events and functions for the Peer Mentor Program. • Think creatively and assist in the development of marketing materials. • Provide excellent customer service. • Assist with special projects, research and other assignments as needed • Handle documents and maintain appropriate confidentiality • Assist faculty/staff with hardware/software issues related to course work; provide instructional support as needed. • Complete responsibilities within the best interest of the University and students. • Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations. • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree is required, graduate degree preferred. • 1 - 3 years of teaching and/or mentoring experience preferred. • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems including MS-Office software expertise. Intermediate to advanced excel knowledge. • Willingness to expand knowledge in computer technology and software utilized at University. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution. • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, which transcend diverse audiences. • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. • Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University. • Office/educational environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Moderate lifting requirements (up to 25 lbs.). • Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
