This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids and necessitates a presence in the office for 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.

Job Description

GE Aerospace is looking for a Hardware Applications Engineer who will develop products, utilize emerging technologies, and craft electronic products to meet our aerospace customer’s needs. This role requires cross functional development experience in electronic/electrical design. Our Location of Grand Rapids, MI is a small city with a vibrant culture, strong economy, and the conveniences of much larger cities. We offer a full relocation package. Responsibilities:

  • Lead bids, proposals, product concepts, initial design solutions for new products.

  • Lead strategic technology planning for the Platform Hardware organization.

  • Develop multi-generational product plans focusing on hardware design initiatives.

  • Implement concept design on Independent Research and Development (IRAD) projects.

  • Apply design experience to existing programs which are implementing new technologies.

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in new business pursuits with our customers.

  • Drive effective project startup, focusing on initial implementation of product or design concepts.

  • Demonstrate superior technical expertise, assisting in hands-on design problem-solving and mentoring.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.

  • 8-10 years of design experience in any combination of electronic design, custom logic design and software development

  • Experience with electronic product development.

  • Proficiency in stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.

  • Strong organization, written, and presentation skills.

  • Lean mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Eligibility Requirement (s):

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree in engineering.

  • Knowledge and experience in complex avionics systems development.

  • Cross-domain design involving any combination of custom logic design, electronic design, or software.

  • Direct engagement with customers

  • Experience designing microprocessor-based systems.

  • Experience with EMC and thermal testing and/or product qualification.

  • Capability to partner and drive alignment across matrixed organizations.

  • Experience with Earned Value and Activity Based Management methods.
