Meijer is seeking candidates for Merchandising Replenishment Analyst Trainee opportunities! This position is internally known as a Business Analyst. This position is accountable for inventory management and replenishment, and product flow execution which meets the needs of the customer with the right product in the right place at the right time. Responsible for providing analysis on assortment, pricing, and merchandising for category line reviews. Achieves financial plan goals while optimizing sales profit and inventory dollars and turns with a clear understanding of competitive forces and analysis.

A Business Analyst will initially join the company as a Business Analyst Trainee, reporting to the Merchandise Training Team during a 14-week training program. Business Analyst Trainees will work with a mentor (current Business Analyst) to learn the duties and responsibilities of the Business Analyst role. Trainees will also attend online and in-person training classes for technical and professional development. After the 14-week training program, trainees will transition into the Business Analyst role.

This role is based out of our Grand Rapids, MI corporate office and will follow a hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in-office, Thursday-Friday flexible/remote days.

The start date for the next training program is June 2nd, 2025.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Accountable for Demand Forecasting, Inventory Fulfillment and Allocation functions including:oAdjust and maintain system settings for order creation and fulfillment.oDevelop inventory deployment strategy while adhering to inventory and receipt plans.oEnsure shelf presentation and appropriate inventory levels to achieve On Shelf Availability goals.oIdentify and resolve product flow issues and requests.o Manage Product Lifecycle: new item forecasts, promotional flow strategies and execution, and end of life recommendation/analysis.

  • Collaborate with Buyer and provide analysis regarding: Advertising, Digital and Visual Strategy.

  • Identify and resolve issues and concerns that may have significant impact on the business or interrupt product flow while responding to competitive market or store issues appropriately.

  • Responsible for working with buyer and vendors to analyze category reviews.

  • Past, current, and future business trend analysis.

  • Conduct store and competitive visits to identifying category gaps, planogram issues, and vendor gaps.

  • Responsible to collaborate with Vendors on Inventory Productivity, Fill Rates, Forecasts and Timelines, Claims and Recalls.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree or enrolled in a four-year degree program with an expected graduation date required.

  • 1 year of previous merchandising and/or retail experience preferred.

  • Ability to gather and interpret data for various reports, as appropriate.

  • Knowledge of the retail industry – ability to analyze and understand specific category product lines as well as segmented customer behavior.

  • Results focused; uses performance targets and goals to drive own activities as well as help team succeed.

  • Ability to drive positive change within the team.

  • Office computer skills; ability to learn company systems and tools.
