Position Description:

The OpEx Lean Technician is responsible for helping drive continuous improvement in overall operations through the implementation of lean transformation and daily management initiatives.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Train and coach hourly operators and other employees on lean tools and processes.

  • Support Rapid Improvement Events comprised of team members from varied functions.

  • Lead execution and coaching of visual workplace through 5S process across all work areas in value stream.

  • Ensures workplace safety.

  • Conducting cycle time analyses, time studies, line balance improvements, work place analysis and improvement.

  • Working with necessary site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process related obstacles.

  • Assisting in the change of systems/processes as required in support of the Lean initiatives.

  • Participating in, co-facilitating or facilitating projects, RIEs and JDIs.

  • Providing necessary training specific to Lean Transformation tools and methodology (under the guidance of the Value Stream Coach).

  • Helping update and maintain visual performance tools, including mission control and MDI boards.

  • Following up on action plans including box 7 actions and closure.

  • Assisting all teams as needed to ensure improvements are made and sustained.

  • Help in creating and implementing standard work and teaching/coaching Team leaders to do the same.

  • Obtaining required fixtures, tools, work aids, poka yokes to support workplace changes.

  • Implementing / coaching the use of cell control boards and other visual management tools.

  • Assisting operations in problem solving issues affecting takt attainment.

  • Resolving issues after Rapid Improvement events to achieve desired state.

  • Supporting communication of the direction of Lean Transformation and daily management initiatives to employees.

  • Drive OpEx culture change through coaching of employees and leaders to drive lean behaviors and follow the principles and practices of OpEx.

  • Complete Team Leader Development Training (TLDP)

  • Conduct Audits to ensure sustainability in lean

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma plus two years manufacturing experience

  • Associates plus manufacturing experience preferred

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to withstand long periods of time on feet (walking and standing).

  • Ability to maneuver a job site, including small spaces in and around equipment.

  • Leads positively and enthusiastically.

  • Self-motivated and flexible; willing to shift priorities as needed.

  • Able to work in a team environment.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities as part of job and personal development.
