Corewell Health Human Milk and Formula Technician in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Job Summary
The Human Milk/Formula Technician position is responsible for the preparation, distribution, inventory, and management of Human Milk (HM), Donor Human Milk (DHM) and infant/pediatric formulas. Ensures safe feedings for patients in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Essential Functions
Interprets physician and Registered Dietitian orders for feeding. Scans all human milk, donor milk and formula additives into EPIC to mix accurate feedings.
Utilizes electronic medical record and other software programs.
Cleans mixing tools and work area. Monitors stock of supplies and expiration dates.
Prepares formula and breastmilk mixtures using aseptic techniques in a clean area. Considers allergens and prevents cross-contamination.
Uses techniques and tools to precisely measure liquids and powders.
Follows standard work to maintain patient safety.
Delivers prepared feedings to nursing units.
Collaborates/communicates with other Human Milk & Formula Techs, Lead Techs, Registered Dietitians, nursing staff, and patients' families.
Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
CRT-ServSafe Handler - NRA National Restaurant Association 30 Days required
Preferred
Preferred Associate's degree or equivalent College level courses in Nutrition, Health, or Science related field
1 year of relevant experience relevant area Preferred
